Hyderabad, Oct 16 Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy on Friday hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on dislodging the NDA government and alleged that Gandhi is the most “irresponsible” opposition leader since Independence.
He also said the Congress and forces favourable to it talked about dislodging the NDA government similar to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, but their wishes would not be fulfilled.
“I am challenging Gandhi. If you have courage, dislodge the government and see,” he told reporters here.
Gandhi on October 10 said Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar will go and so will the Modi government, and then the repair of democracy will begin.
Reddy said many “subversive forces within and outside the country” have come together in their conspiracy against the Modi government. However, they failed, he said.
The union minister said certain capitalist forces in the world, “international deep state media” and forces which are not able to digest the growing respect for India are trying to weaken the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
As part of the conspiracy, attempts are being made to trigger dissatisfaction among people, create distrust in Constitutional institutions and spread false narratives, he said.
Taking exception to Gandhi’s ‘vote chori’ (vote theft) allegations, he said SIR was not conducted in 2014, 2019 and 2024 when the Modi government came to power.
Highlighting that Congress lost badly in several states in the country before SIR, he asked how Gandhi can say that the BJP came to power because of SIR.
Charging that Gandhi is trying to defame and weaken all Constitutional institutions, Reddy said the former had dragged even National Security Adviser Ajit Doval’s name into politics.
Lauding Doval’s contributions, Reddy said the NSA’s name makes Pakistani terrorists nervous.
“Gandhi says government officials are leaking information to him. We cannot expect more than this from an opposition party leader like him. We have not seen such an irresponsible, weak, fake opposition party leader since Independence,” he said.
When former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee served as opposition leader in the 1990s, he was made leader of India’s delegation (to the UN), he said.
On Gandhi’s comments that CEC Kumar would not be spared, he asked if the former is doing ‘dadagiri” (intimidation).
How did Congress win Kerala after SIR was conducted, he asked.
On the INDIA bloc rally to the Supreme Court in Delhi, he said such a march to apex court is a first in the country’s history as no such procession was carried out even during the freedom struggle.
Observing that opposition parties too have a responsibility to safeguard Constitutional institutions, Reddy alleged that Congress is trying to “blackmail the Supreme Court.”
Gandhi and certain foreign forces feel that the Modi government should be dislodged from power now as it would never be possible in future, he claimed.
The present developments are also taking place keeping next year’s Uttar Pradesh elections in view, he said.
Reddy claimed an organisation distributed 10,000 jeans pants and T-shirts to youth in Delhi so that they can participate in protests posing as students, he said.
The Congress should expose any shortcomings of the BJP but not weaken the institutions.
The Congress makes tall claims about the Constitution, but the Congress government carries out detentions when BJP calls for protests on people’s issues, he said.
The union coal minister said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy spoke to him over the phone on October 15 and sought supply of coal for Yadadri Power Plant in the state in view of its shortage. He assured that coal would be provided to the Yadadri plant.
He also said PM Modi is regularly monitoring coal production and related issues, including supply and stocks available with power companies.
