Pune, Oct 15 Pune Collector Jitendra Dudi on Thursday said Rapido has been told to immediately stop its pilot two-wheeler aggregator services in the city for operating without a licence.
Dudi said the company cannot operate two-wheeler aggregator services without the required licence and legal action would be initiated against the company from Friday if it failed to comply.
It must follow the existing legal provisions until the licensing process is completed, he added.
He said the directions were issued at a meeting held after some cab and autorickshaw driver unions submitted a complaint alleging that aggregators operating in Pune were not complying with the rules.
Dudi said no new policy decision had been taken at the meeting and the authorities had directed aggregators to implement the existing government guidelines.
As per the directions, aggregators must pay 80 per cent of the fare to the drivers.
The fares charged must also remain within the prescribed range of 25 per cent below and 50 per cent above the base rate fixed by the Regional Transport Office (RTO).
The aggregators have also been directed to share monthly data with the authorities to ensure accountability, as complaints have been received that drivers were not being paid their due share and that some aggregators were charging fares outside the prescribed range.
“The aggregators have also been asked to add a separate column in their apps displaying the RTO-prescribed fare, similar to the rates displayed in auto rickshaws. The government will take a decision on the licensing process. Aggregators cannot operate two-wheeler services without a licence under the existing law,” Dudi said.
