Raipur, Oct 16 More than 2.31 lakh complaints were registered with Chhattisgarh’s toll-free Chief Minister’s Helpline since its launch in June this year, of which 88.85 per cent were resolved, officials said on Friday.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, who visited the office of the ‘CM Helpline 1076’ at the CBD building in Nava Raipur on Friday and chaired a meeting on its functioning, stressed on the need for effective and time-bound redressal of grievances.

During the meeting, officials informed that between June 9, when the helpline was launched, and October 15, a total of 2,31,850 complaints were registered, of which 2,05,996 had been resolved, while action was underway on the remaining 25,854, an official statement said.

The helpline receives an average of 1,500 to 2,000 complaints daily, it said.

“The helpline has been launched to ensure citizens’ grievances reach the government directly and departments address them seriously within the stipulated time. The timely, sensitive and effective redressal of citizens’ problems is the foremost test of good governance,” Sai said.

The helpline has emerged as an important platform for people in the state within a short period, he said.

“Citizens no longer need to make repeated visits to government offices to resolve issues related to ration, pensions, electricity, housing, drinking water and other public services, as they can register complaints from home through the helpline,” the CM said.

While describing the initial results as encouraging, Sai said the large number of complaints resolved reflected the collective efforts of government officials and employees.

“Grievance redressal should not be limited to figures. Citizens must receive actual relief and should be satisfied with the solutions provided. Officials must verify whether a complainant’s problem has actually been resolved before closing a case. Feedback from citizens should be the real measure of the system’s success,” he said.

Sai reviewed details of complaints received, their disposal, feedback from complainants and the performance of departments and districts.

He also assessed the status of grievance redressal in all districts through a video conference with district collectors, the statement said.

During the review, the CM spoke directly to complainants from different districts to ascertain whether their problems had been resolved after they approached the helpline. Some citizens expressed satisfaction with the action taken, it said.

Daman Sahu, a resident of the Mainpur area in Gariaband district, told Sai that a faulty transformer had disrupted electricity supply in his village, affecting around 80-85 families.

After his complaint was registered on the helpline, a new transformer was installed and power supply restored within about a week, the release said.

Virendra Yadav, a resident of the Bagicha development block in Jashpur district, said he was facing a delay in receiving the second instalment of amount for his house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Around 10 days after he lodged a complaint, Rs 55,000 was credited to his bank account, it said.

Similarly, Toran Sahu, a resident of Karhi village in Mungeli district, said his mother was not receiving her pension for about nine months.

Following his complaint, the concerned department investigated the matter, restarted her pension and released the pending amount, the statement said.
