Indore, Oct 15 The Valsad-Hisar special passenger train (04728) collided with a car stuck on the tracks while a railway gate was closing in Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday night, a railway official said.

The official said that due to the presence of mind of the loco pilot (train driver) and the timely evacuation of the car occupants, no one was injured in the incident.

Video of the incident was circulating on social media.

Ratlam division public relations officer Mukesh Kumar told PTI that the incident occurred between Ratlam and Namli railway stations around 10:30 pm on Thursday.

He said, “The driver of the car hurriedly tried to remove the car from the tracks just before the gate closed.

However, the gate closed, leaving the car stuck on the tracks. Moments later, a passenger train passed by and collided with the car.”

Kumar said the car’s occupants had gotten off before the collision, and the loco pilot likely applied the emergency brakes, slowing the train down and averting a major accident.

According to a railway official, after the damaged car was removed from the tracks, the train departed for its destination at 11:40 pm on Thursday.

He said the incident is being investigated and appropriate action will be taken.
