Latur, Oct 21 The Latur district administration has acquired 256 private wells and borewells across 173 villages and hamlets to ensure an uninterrupted supply of drinking water to residents in rural areas amid concerns over water scarcity, officials said on Wednesday.
The wells have been acquired across ten tehsils, with Ausa accounting for the highest number at 51, followed by Ahmedpur with 41 and Nilanga with 45.
The measures are aimed at ensuring access to drinking water in rural settlements and hamlets by tapping private water sources wherever required. The acquired wells and borewells are being used to supply water to residents in the identified areas.
The district administration said the initiative was part of its efforts to prevent drinking water shortages in rural Latur and provide relief to people in villages facing difficulties in accessing water.
