Ahmedabad, Oct 16 Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Friday conducted a detailed review of the progress of major under-construction industrial, social, and urban infrastructure projects at the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR).

At the meeting, he also conducted a detailed review of the construction status and progress of various development works associated with the National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) at Lothal in Ahmedabad district, an official release stated.

NMHC, being developed under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, aims to highlight India’s rich and diverse maritime heritage.

“Chief Minister Patel reviewed the ongoing development works at Dholera SIR (Ahmedabad district) and the National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) which is under-construction at Lothal. He visited sites where essential infrastructure facilities are being developed to serve employees of industries coming up at Dholera, along with other residents and visitors,” it said.

Patel’s review visit was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s approach of conducting on-site inspections and reviewing the progress of important development projects, according to the release.

During the visit, the Chief Minister inspected the construction of various social infrastructure facilities in the Activation Area of Dholera SIR.

He inspected a 200-bed multi-speciality hospital, an integrated school, a fire station, a modern 42-room guest house, a food court with a capacity of 600 people, a tent city comprising 50 tents, a hotel, and residential and commercial projects, the release stated.

He also visited the Tata Electronics Semiconductor Fabrication Facility, a key component of Dholera’s chip ecosystem, and reviewed the progress of construction work at the site.

“The Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway is now operational. A successful calibration flight recently landed at the Dholera International Airport, which is expected to become operational by the end of 2026,” the release noted.

To enhance Rail connectivity, a 23-kilometre-long Bhimnath-Dholera Logistics Hub new line is being developed. A 134-kilometre-long Ahmedabad-Dholera semi-high-speed double-line rail project has also been approved, according to the release.
