Guwahati, Oct 16 A fire broke out at a lubricant warehouse in Assam’s Nagaon district on Friday, police said.
The blaze erupted in Islampatty, a busy commercial hub of the town, situated near a densely populated residential area, they said.
The warehouse was completely engulfed in flames, but several fire tenders contained its spread to nearby areas, an officer said.
There were no reports of any injuries or fatalities, he said, adding that property worth around Rs 12 lakh was gutted in the fire.
The exact cause of the blaze is yet to be ascertained, but an electrical short-circuit is suspected to have triggered the fire, the officer said.
Newly elected Nagaon MP Devasish Sharma of the BJP rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
Meanwhile, another incident of fire was reported from a flour mill in Haibargaon area of the district, a police officer said.
The blaze caused extensive damage to property, he added.
