Mumbai, Oct 19 BJP leader and Maharashtra minister Nitesh Rane on Monday said the Devendra Fadnavis government acts swiftly after crime incidents, claiming police moved into action immediately and nabbed suspects in the Tiger Shroff firing case.

Twelve teams had been deployed to trace the shooters involved, he told reporters, adding that some suspects had been held in Rajasthan and Maharashtra.

He said the police response under the Fadnavis government was prompt and questioned whether the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government had acted with even 5 per cent of the same urgency.

“The MVA government focused on covering up incidents instead of investigating them,” he said while referring to the deaths of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and celebrity manager Disha Salian.

The then government attempted to protect people facing allegations in these cases, the BJP leader claimed.

He also referred to the Antilia explosives scare and the murder of businessman Mansukh Hiran, alleging that the previous government had failed to ensure accountability in these cases.

Targeting NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule and Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, who have been criticising the government over law and order, Rane referred to the arrest of former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh in a corruption case.

“The MVA government was involved in corruption and extortion. Its leaders should refrain from criticising the present government’s law and order record. The police response to the (Tiger Shroff) shooting incident demonstrates the difference between the two administrations,” Rane claimed.
