Hyderabad, Oct 16 BRS working president K T Rama Rao on Friday said Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy should order a probe by a sitting judge into alleged scams in state-run miner Singareni Collieries proposed foreign coal purchases and other “irregularities” in the Congress government.

The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) is a government coal mining company jointly owned by the Government of Telangana and the Government of India on a 51:49 equity basis.

“Revanth Reddy says he will order an inquiry if we write to him. If he has the courage, let him order a sitting judge’s inquiry into our allegations,” Rao said, speaking at an event here.

The BRS leader also sought a probe into an alleged Rs 10,000 crore scam in Singareni and a solar power scam.

He claimed that Singareni coal costs around Rs 3,800 per tonne, while imported coal could cost Rs 10,000 – Rs 12,000 per tonne.

He accused the state government of pursuing proposed imports from Australia for “commissions” despite the availability of domestic coal.

He also alleged that coal production had been reduced and around Rs 60,000 crore in dues to Singareni remained pending, while the company was being blamed for shortages.

Rao charged that Reddy is an “EMI Chief Minister,” and that political payments to the Congress high command were driving the foreign coal purchase plan.

Responding to Rao’s demand for a probe into imported coal, Reddy on Thursday said he is ready to order an investigation into the matter by an agency of the former’s choice.

Reddy also said he is ready for debate on issues of corruption.
