Mumbai, Oct 16 Actor Ajaz Khan, accompanied by his lawyer, appeared before the Maharashtra Cyber Cell here on Friday following a complaint by a YouTuber who accused him of assault and recording a video of his private parts, an official said.
Khan, along with his legal counsel advocate Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh, met Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) and Maharashtra Cyber head, Yashasvi Yadav, to submit his side of the story and record his statement, the official said.
According to the complaint, the alleged incident took place at a mall in suburban Jogeshwari in September during a film premiere.
YouTuber Harshvardhan Beniwal has claimed that following an argument over some issue, Khan and unidentified people accompanying him assaulted him, tore his clothes and recorded a video of his private parts.
Based on the complaint, an FIR was filed against Khan on September 29 and he was summoned for questioning by police. He has been booked under BNS sections related to voluntarily causing grievous hurt, wrongful restraint, assault, criminal intimidation, common intention and Information Technology Act section 66E (punishment for violation of privacy).
Speaking to reporters outside the Maharashtra Cyber headquarters on Friday, advocate Deshmukh defended the actor and claimed false allegations were being made against his client.
“Maharashtra Cyber is being misused by Harsh Beniwal to pursue a completely false and baseless case against my client,” the lawyer claimed.
