On October 24, a fire broke out at a small lubricant shop at Kamagondanahalli in KG Halli, which falls under the jurisdiction of Gangammagudi police station, police said.
According to police, the shop, located in an old building, used to sell various types of lubricants, oil and other materials.
“The fire appears to have been accidental and continued for some time. Fire and emergency services personnel, along with police personnel, rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire. They carried out the necessary procedures,” a senior police officer said.
After extinguishing the fire, the rooms in the building were checked. At the time, it was believed that everyone had come out of the building, and there was no information about anyone having died in the incident, he said.
However, on Monday, after someone informed the police that a foul smell was emanating from the building, police personnel went to the spot and conducted a thorough inspection, the officer said.
During the inspection, the charred bodies of the couple were found in a room on the first floor, near the doorway. They were later identified as Akash and Nagarathna, police said.
