Agar-Malwa (MP), Oct 26 A new religious corridor dedicated to Maa Baglamukhi Devi, modelled after the Mahakal Lok in Ujjain, will come up at Nalkheda town in Agar-Malwa district of Madhya Pradesh.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Monday laid the foundation stone for the Maa Baglamukhi Devi Lok at Nalkheda, which houses a temple of the revered Hindu goddess on the banks of the Lakhundar river.
The project is part of a state government campaign to develop major religious sites in the state as Lok (corridors).
Government officials said work worth Rs 85.40 crore will be undertaken in the first phase of the project, which will be developed on approximately 20 hectares.
They said the main spire of the temple in this religious corridor will be 108 feet high and various facilities will be developed for devotees.
Yadav performed the ground-breaking ceremony for the first phase of the corridor amid chanting of Vedic mantras after offering prayers at the Maa Baglamukhi Temple, about 160 kilometers from Indore.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister maintained the Maa Baglamukhi Devi Lok will emerge as a major centre of faith, spirituality, devotion, and religious tourism in the future.
He said in the first phase, the main temple will be constructed on an area of 2,800 square meters.
According to Yadav, 220 ‘yagnashalas’ (fireplaces) will be developed for religious rituals at the site, while a cowshed will be built on an area of 625 square meters.
The chief minister announced that beautiful ghats will be constructed on the banks of the Lakhundar river for the convenience of devotees visiting Nalkheda.
For the convenience of devotees, the 14-kilometer-long road from Amla to Nalkheda is being expanded to four lanes at a cost of over Rs 55 crore, he stated.
The BJP government has resolved to develop more than 14 religious sites in the state as Divya Lok (religious corridors), Yadav maintained.
