Guwahati, Oct 24 A cache of arms and ammunition left behind by the militant outfit National Santhal Liberation Army (NSLA) was seized from dense forests of Kokrajhar district on Saturday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
Acting on intelligence inputs, police launched an operation in the dense jungles of Motijhora and seized the arms and ammunition, Sarma said in a social media post.
The seized items include 10 electronic detonators, 6.5 kg of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), 6.5 kg of TNT powder explosives and a 7.65mm factory-made pistol with one magazine and one cartridge, he said.
“A major success for @assampolice as it seeks to destroy every remaining relic of militancy in Assam. Based on intel, @KokrajharPolice launched an op in the dense jungles of Motihjora & recovered arms & ammo left behind by NSLA,” Sarma said.
“Maintaining peace in BTR (Bodoland Territorial Region) remains our top priority,” he added.
