New Delhi, Oct 20 The Delhi government has directed bureaucrats to accord top priority to meetings chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, officials said on Tuesday.

They were also asked to ensure that the decisions taken and directions issued at the meetings convened by the Centre or the Lieutenant Governor are communicated to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), they said.

The General Administration Department (GAD), in a recent communication to additional chief secretaries, secretaries and heads of departments, reiterated the protocol for attending meetings convened by the chief minister and sharing information on important government matters.

The directive came after it was observed that some senior officers had been unable to attend meetings chaired by the chief minister and that decisions and directions emerging from meetings convened by the Government of India or the Lieutenant Governor were not being communicated to the CMO.

The GAD pointed out that some senior officers were not following similar instructions issued in April, and the chief minister has taken a serious view of it.

It directed the officers to ensure their attendance at meetings convened in the CMO under the chief minister’s chairpersonship.

“In case of a clash with a later-scheduled meeting, the organisers will be requested to reschedule it, with advance intimation to the CMO. If a clash with an earlier-scheduled meeting cannot be resolved, the matter must be brought to the CMO’s notice in advance for appropriate directions,” it added.

The GAD has also laid down instructions to strengthen coordination between departments and ensure that the chief minister and the chief secretary remain informed about important developments concerning the Delhi government.

As per the directions, whenever a department or organisation under the Delhi government receives an important communication from the Centre regarding a new programme, scheme, or any matter, a copy must be forwarded to the offices of the chief minister and the chief secretary.

Similarly, copies of responses to such communications must also be endorsed to both offices.

Whenever officers attend meetings convened by the Centre where important decisions are taken or directions issued, the offices of the chief minister and the chief secretary must be informed about the deliberations, the GAD communication added.
