New Delhi, Oct 20 Traffic diversions and parking restrictions were enforced around the Red Fort on Tuesday in view of Dussehra celebrations, with buses heading towards Lal Quila from Delhi Gate and Daryaganj diverted towards Rajghat, an advisory said.

The restrictions have been put in place from 3 pm to 11 pm in view of the large number of devotees expected to attend the celebrations, which are likely to increase vehicular movement and footfall in the area, police said.

According to an advisory by the Delhi Traffic Police, vehicular movement on Netaji Subhash Marg and Nishad Raj Marg may be regulated or restricted depending on prevailing traffic conditions and security requirements.

Diversions, if required, may be enforced at Chhatta Rail Chowk, Subhash Marg T-Point, Delhi Gate, Shanti Van Chowk and GPO Chowk, the advisory said.

Visitors have been advised to park their vehicles at designated parking lots, including ASI Parking at Madhav Das Park, Tikona Park, Sunehari Masjid, Parade Ground, Dangal Maidan and Omaxe Mall, it added.

E-rickshaws, auto-rickshaws and cycle-rickshaws will not be allowed beyond Chhatta Rail Chowk and Delhi Gate on Netaji Subhash Marg, the advisory said.

Commuters have been advised to avoid the Red Fort stretch, use public transport wherever possible and allow extra travel time. They have also been asked to follow the instructions of traffic personnel deployed in the area.
