Patna, Oct 20 JD(U) MLC Neeraj Kumar, who is seeking reelection in biennial polls to the Bihar Legislative Council scheduled later this week, has been admitted to a hospital following sudden illness, party sources said on Tuesday.

Kumar, 59, who is a heart patient, complained of uneasiness late Monday night when he was taken to the Medanta Hospital in the city, where his condition was said to be stable, the sources said.

The former minister seeks to retain, for the fourth consecutive term, the Patna Graduates seat, which is among eight constituencies of the legislative council that go to polls on Friday.

An old loyalist of party supremo and former chief minister Nitish Kumar, the MLC faces a tough fight this time because of the open rebellion from Mokama MLA Anant Kumar Singh.

Despite being a JD(U) legislator, Singh has come out in support of Jan Suraaj Party candidate Anuj Singh, alleging that Neeraj Kumar had worked against him in last year’s assembly polls.
