Amaravati, Oct 19 UltraTech Cement has expanded its manufacturing capacity in Andhra Pradesh with the commissioning of Petnikota Cement Works in Nandyal district, built at an investment of around Rs 2,650 crore.

Located in Petnikota village in Kolimigundla mandal of the Rayalaseema region, the integrated plant has a clinkerisation capacity of 3.3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) and a cement dispatch capacity of 3.6 MTPA, a press release said on Monday.

The facility is expected to provide direct employment to 650 people and indirect employment to another 2,000, the release said.

Construction began in May 2025, and IT Minister Nara Lokesh said the plant had been commissioned within 14 months of the groundbreaking ceremony.

“From groundbreaking to commissioning in just 14 months! UltraTech, India’s largest cement company, has expanded its capacity in Andhra Pradesh with its Rs 2,650 crore Petnikota Cement Works in Nandyal district,” he said.

According to the TDP working president, the plant uses no groundwater, is designed to operate on 100 per cent green energy and is expected to generate 2,650 direct and indirect jobs.

“This is the speed of doing business in Andhra Pradesh,” he said.

The plant is equipped with a 35 MW hybrid wind and solar energy system with battery storage and a 20 MW waste heat recovery system. It is designed to operate on 100 per cent green energy without a captive thermal power plant, the release said.

The plant is also equipped with Radio Frequency identification (RFID)-based vehicle tracking, unmanned weighbridges for streamlined logistics, a fully automated robotic laboratory with automatic sampling and analysis, and a cross-belt analyser and automatic hot meal analysis system for real-time process optimisation.

Combining digital automation, renewable energy and sustainable manufacturing, Petnikota Cement Works is set to be one of India’s most modern and environmentally responsible cement plants, the release added.
