Itanagar, Oct 19 Police in Arunachal Pradesh’s Seijosa in Pakke Kessang district have sought public assistance to establish the identity of an unknown middle-aged man whose body was recovered from the Dibru river last week.

The body was found on October 16 at around 8 am downstream of the river near Goloso village within the jurisdiction of Seijosa Police Station, a police officer said.

Initial inquiries and preliminary medical examination revealed no external injuries on the deceased, and they suspect drowning as the prima facie cause of death.

“His identity remains unknown. The body was initially brought to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Seijosa for post-mortem formalities and has subsequently been shifted to the TRIMS Naharlagun mortuary to be preserved for 72 hours in view of local morgue limitations,” said Seijosa Police Station officer in-charge.

An unnatural death case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) has been registered, and a detailed investigation is underway, the official said.

Police have circulated wireless messages to all police stations and law enforcement agencies across Arunachal Pradesh and neighbouring Assam, urging authorities to cross-check missing persons’ registers.

It appealed to the general public or families with any information regarding the deceased, or matching missing-person reports, to immediately contact the Seijosa Police Station control line at 7628060722.
