Jammu, Oct 15 Eighteen people were injured after a minibus skidded off the road and plunged into a ditch near Johnu in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Thursday, officials said.
Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Ananth Dwivedi said the minibus was travelling from Udhampur towards Dhandal when the accident occurred on Thursday evening.
Ambulances were immediately dispatched to the spot, and the injured were shifted to a hospital for treatment, he said.
“All 18 injured are receiving medical attention. No critical cases have been reported so far and doctors are examining the patients,” Dwivedi said.
He said the circumstances leading to the accident would be investigated and appropriate action taken.
Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh said he had spoken to Dwivedi after learning about the accident.
“Thankfully, no casualty has been reported. All necessary assistance is being provided. My office is in touch with the district administration,” Singh said in a post on X.
