Kohima, Oct 15 Takasanen Longkumer of Mokokchung and Songmo P of Noklak won the men’s and women’s categories, respectively, at the State Red Run 4.0 here on Thursday.

Organised by the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS), the 10-km run was aimed to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), while encouraging young people to promote testing, treatment and prevention.

Longkumer clocked 35 minutes 56.78 seconds to win the men’s race, followed by Yemjensanen Pongen of Dimapur in 36:29.45 and Renthungo Tsanglao of Wokha in 36:52.46.

In the women’s category, Songmo finished in 44:21.38, ahead of Cekrtalu Khusoh of Phek (44:56.13) and Chongsop P of Kohima (45:22.16).

The top two finishers in each category will represent Nagaland at the national event in Bihar next month.

Commissioner and Secretary for Health and Family Welfare Keveleno Angami urged young people to spread awareness about HIV testing and treatment and help eliminate stigma associated with the infection.

She said Nagaland was working towards achieving the 95-95-95 targets across all 17 districts by December 1, 2026.

The targets aim to ensure that 95 per cent of people living with HIV know their status, 95 per cent of those diagnosed receive treatment, and 95 per cent of those on treatment achieve viral suppression.

Principal Director of Health and Family Welfare Dr Keveduyi Theyo said all 17 districts had organised district-level Red Run events during June and July.
