Hyderabad, Oct 14 Prithviraaj Yodhas handed Chero Archers their third consecutive defeat in the Archery Premier League Season 2 with a convincing 5-1 victory here on Wednesday.
Sixteen-year-old recurve archer Gatha Anandrao Khadake led the Yodhas’ charge with an impressive 58 out of a possible 60 points, while Asian Games compound medallist Ganesh Thirumuru shot 59.
The victory helped Yodhas arrest their recent slump and take their points tally to eight, while Chero continued to struggle after a promising start to the league.
The two teams had needed three sudden-death tiebreakers to settle their previous meeting, but Wednesday’s contest proved a more comfortable affair for the Yodhas.
The sides were locked at 75-75 after the opening set before Chero faltered in the second. Kumkum Mohod, left with a little time to take her final shot, managed only a seven, while Yodhas finished strongly with four 10s to take the set.
USA’s Casey Kaufhold replaced Kumkum for the third set but opened with an eight, allowing Yodhas to seize the initiative. Gatha struck two 10s before Mathias Grande sealed the set and match with a 77-74 score.
