Dehradun, Oct 16 Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday approved a proposal to raise district police women constable posts from 526 to 2,000, with the additional 1,474 posts proposed to be adjusted from the sanctioned posts under other cadres and branches.
“Our government is continuously striving to strengthen law and order and promote the participation of women in the police force. The objective is to provide better service opportunities to female police personnel, while also ensuring a secure and bright future for them,” Dhami said.
According to officials, the Department of Personnel under the chief minister gave its consent on the condition that a separate proposal be submitted for the restructuring of higher-level posts to accommodate the 1,210 currently serving ‘supernumerary’ (excess) female constables and to ensure future promotion opportunities for them.
This will be achieved without any additional financial burden and without increasing the total number of sanctioned posts, they said.
The decision paves the way for an increase in the number of female constable posts in the districts, the officials said.
