Sonbhadra (UP), Oct 18 The WhatsApp account of Sonbhadra Sadar BJP MLA Bhupesh Chaubey was allegedly hacked, with messages seeking money sent to some persons from his phone number on Sunday, police said.
Superintendent of Police Abhishek Verma said Chaubey has informed the cybercrime police station that his WhatsApp account has been hacked.
During preliminary investigation, it has emerged that unidentified persons have gained remote access to the account using a one-time password (OTP), the SP said.
A case has been registered in this connection, and necessary legal action is being taken, he added.
Chaubey also confirmed that one of his mobile numbers had been hacked and appealed to people not to respond to any requests for money purportedly made from the number.
