Sultanpur (UP), Oct 18 The body of a 55-year-old Ayurvedic medicine seller was found in a sugarcane field here on Sunday, with his daughter suspecting that he was murdered, police said.
The deceased was identified as Bakheru Gaur, a resident of Kohra village under the Dostpur police station area.
His body was found in a sugarcane field belonging to Danpati Yadav in Pasiya Para village, near the service lane of the Purvanchal Expressway, on Sunday morning.
According to his daughter, Anshika, Gaur had left home on his bicycle about four days ago and had not returned since.
She told police that injury marks were visible on his head. His bicycle and slippers were also missing from the spot. She lodged a complaint against unidentified persons, police sources said.
Circle Officer Vinay Gautam, Dostpur Station House Officer Narad Muni Singh and a forensic team inspected the spot.
Police recovered some glasses and a bottle of liquor from the site, the sources said.
Gautam said the body had been sent for post-mortem examination.
“Preliminary investigation suggests that he may have died accidentally while under the influence of alcohol,” he said.
