Ballia (UP), Oct 18 A 17-year-old boy has been taken into custody and sent to a juvenile home for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl and blackmailing her with a video of the assault, police said on Sunday.
The accused and the girl lived in the same village under the Maniyar police station area, they said.
SHO Ajay Kumar Tripathi said the boy was booked on Friday based on a complaint filed by the girl’s mother under relevant sections of the BNS and the POCSO Act.
Police took the accused into custody on Saturday and produced him before a court in Ballia, which sent him to a juvenile home, the SHO said.
