Itanagar, Oct 17 Arunachal Pradesh Governor KT Parnaik on Friday said ‘Seva Sankalp Utsav’, which commemorates the 25-year journey of Narendra Modi in public service as Gujarat CM and then prime minister, is an occasion that brings together the spirit of service, the power of sports, the richness of cultural heritage and the values of responsible citizenship.
Participating in the Seva Sankalp Utsav-State Level Traditional Sports Competition and Nukkad Natak at Dera Natung Government College here, Parnaik said Modi’s journey from “humble beginnings to the highest executive office in the country inspires all to pursue our aspirations with determination, discipline and hard work”.
The PM has always emphasised the four pillars of the nation – farmers, women, youth and soldiers – recognising their vital contributions to India’s progress, security and development, Parnaik said.
Addressing the programme, the governor said youths are the leaders of tomorrow and active partners in building a better Arunachal Pradesh.
He urged them to draw inspiration from the PM’s journey of public service and uphold the values of dedication, perseverance and integrity in their lives.
Praising the state government for the sporting initiative, Parnaik said sports promote good health, nurture a competitive spirit, instil sportsmanship and foster teamwork, discipline and mutual respect.
He said traditional sports are a living expression of Arunachal Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage.
He called for preserving indigenous games such as bamboo archery, bamboo climbing and traditional running by involving community elders and organising competitions at village, district and state levels.
At the same time, he said, modern sports science, nutrition, physiotherapy, injury prevention and mental conditioning should support athletes in achieving their full potential.
