Chandrapur, Oct 16 The Shiv Sena (UBT) has announced financial assistance of Rs 50,000 each for the kin of four farmers who died by suicide in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district.

Talking to reporters on Thursday, the Sena (UBT) district unit chief, Sandeep Girhe, said that party representatives will visit the homes of the deceased farmers to hand over the aid to each family.

Additionally, the party will also distribute Rs 10,000 each to around 20 underprivileged farmers in the district, he said.

Girhe said Maharashtra has been facing a severe drought and farmers have suffered massive losses that have left some of them in a state of destitution.

Considering the situation, the party has cancelled its Navratri and Diwali events to use the funds to help farmers instead, he said.
