Hyderabad, Oct 18: The iconic Hussain Sagar waterfront at Tank Bund in Hyderabad witnessed grand Saddula Bathukamma celebrations on Sunday evening, highlighting the rich cultural heritage, traditional folk arts and festive spirit of Telangana.
Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and his wife, Janaki, participated in the celebrations, according to an official release. Telangana Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao and Panchayat Raj Minister Seethakka also attended the event. Popular actor couple Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna were among the prominent personalities present at the celebrations.
700 Artists Showcase Telangana’s Folk Traditions
The Saddula Bathukamma festival celebrations featured an impressive cultural programme in which around 700 artists performed 30 traditional art forms. The performances showcased the diversity of Telangana’s folk culture, music and artistic traditions.
The event highlighted the cultural significance of Bathukamma, Telangana’s iconic floral festival, which celebrates the state’s traditions, community spirit and cultural identity.
Adding colour to the celebrations, 700 beautifully decorated Bathukamma floral arrangements featuring vibrant seasonal flowers were displayed along the Hussain Sagar waterfront.
Women and Children Participate in Bathukamma Festival
Women, young girls and children gathered around the colourful Bathukamma arrangements and enthusiastically sang traditional Bathukamma songs. Their participation reflected the importance of the festival in preserving Telangana’s cultural traditions and bringing communities together.
The celebrations also featured cultural performances, an impressive laser show and fireworks, creating a festive atmosphere at Hyderabad’s Tank Bund.
Vani Prasad, Special Chief Secretary of the Tourism Department, along with other government officials and dignitaries, attended the programme.
The grand Saddula Bathukamma celebrations at Hussain Sagar once again showcased Telangana’s vibrant folk heritage, traditional floral arrangements and the enduring cultural importance of the Bathukamma festival.
