New Delhi, Oct 14 India will host the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum later this month to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Lok Sabha Secretariat said on Wednesday that the prime minister will inaugurate the multilateral event in the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan, the old Parliament building, on October 26.
The three-day event beginning October 25 will conclude with the adoption of a joint statement.
The Forum meeting comes close on the heels of the high-profile BRICS Summit held here last month.
The high-level multilateral event is likely to draw parliamentary leaders, presiding officers, and delegates from BRICS member and partner nations.
Global cooperation and legislative diplomacy is likely to take the centre stage at the meeting.
Before formal sessions, delegation secretaries will finalise the declaration or a joint statement document.
The BRICS Parliamentary Forum serves as the official inter-parliamentary platform for member states to align legislative agendas, promote democratic dialogue, and champion the voice of the Global South.
It acts as the legislative dimension to the executive-level BRICS leaders’ summits, ensuring that high-level international agreements are effectively integrated into national legal frameworks.
Earlier, India had hosted the 9th G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit (P20 Summit) in October 2023 here.
