New Delhi, Oct 14 The Delhi government will install a third-generation dual-source CT scanner and a 3-Tesla MRI system at Lok Nayak Hospital to strengthen diagnostic services and help doctors detect diseases faster, particularly in emergency cases, according to the official statement.

Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh on Wednesday said the machines will improve imaging services for patients with neurological, cardiac and oncological conditions.

“The dual-source CT scanner uses two X-ray tubes and can complete a chest scan in less than a second, allowing doctors to examine emergency, trauma and critical care patients quickly,” the minister said in a statement.

The scanner can also optimise radiation doses, assess kidney stone composition and detect uric acid crystal deposits associated with gout without additional radiation exposure, the statement read.

The 3-Tesla MRI system will support imaging for neurological disorders, heart disease, cancer, breast conditions, urological problems, orthopaedic ailments and paediatric care.

The technology will help doctors obtain detailed images while reducing examination time and improving patient comfort.

It will help doctors diagnose conditions such as stroke, cancer, cardiac diseases and musculoskeletal disorders more accurately, the government said.

“These advanced diagnostic facilities will strengthen timely and accurate diagnosis, improve patient care and expand access to modern healthcare services in Delhi’s government hospitals,” Singh said.

He said the equipment would also support medical education, train doctors and students, and facilitate clinical research.
