Raipur, Oct 16 Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday laid the foundation stone for a Rs 150-crore appliance manufacturing unit in Nava Raipur, which is expected to create more than 3,500 jobs.

Speaking at the ceremony, Sai said the state government’s priority is to ensure that industrial growth translates into employment and economic opportunities for local youth.

He noted the state’s Industrial Development Policy 2024-2030 provides special incentives to labour-intensive industries capable of generating large-scale employment with relatively low capital investment.

The objective is not merely to attract investment but to make it a means for employment generation, strengthening the local economy and ensuring prosperity in the state, an official release quoted the CM as saying.

The proposed unit of Yash Fans and Appliances Ltd is expected to attract an investment of more than Rs 150 crore and generate direct employment for more than 3,500 people. It will manufacture products for reputed companies, Sai said.

He noted that the most significant aspect of the project is its potential to create jobs, particularly for young people and women.

When youth get employment opportunities according to their skills and capabilities in their own state, their families become economically stronger, and the local economy gains momentum, he said.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047, the chief minister said Chhattisgarh has been working towards contributing to the national goal by focusing on industrial growth, employment generation, skill development and modern infrastructure.

He said that the industrial policy provides special incentives for employment-generating industries, encouraging investments in sectors such as textiles, food processing, electronics and pharmaceuticals.

The government has also simplified procedures for setting up and operating industries to create a conducive investment environment, he added.

Sai pointed out that the state had received investment proposals worth more than Rs 8.5 lakh crore following the introduction of its new industrial policy, and the government is now focused on expediting their implementation and extending support to investors at every stage, from project establishment to operations.

He said the government has also been working to ensure that industrialisation reaches different regions of the state, not remaining concentrated in a few areas.

Industries based on local resources would strengthen regional economies and create employment and self-employment opportunities closer to people’s homes, he added.

Sai expressed confidence that the new Yash Group unit would accelerate industrial activity in Nava Raipur and surrounding areas while creating fresh employment opportunities.

State’s Industry Minister Lakhan Lal Dewangan said Chhattisgarh has witnessed the establishment of more than 3,000 small and large industrial units over the past two-and-a-half years, generating employment for more than 50,000 people.

Upcoming industrial projects are expected to create more than 1.5 lakh additional employment opportunities, he added.
