Lucknow, Oct 18 RSS-affiliate Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) on Sunday said recent protests by the CJP and the opposition can create an atmosphere of instability and distrust in the country.
Any attempt to weaken India’s unity, integrity and constitutional framework cannot be accepted, RSS leader Indresh Kumar, a margdarshak (guide) at MRM, said, according to a statement.
Speaking at a conference here, Kumar wondered whether the political ambition to gain power could ever take precedence over the country’s stability and national interests.
He said spreading distrust in the electoral system and constitutional institutions is futile, as he slammed the politics of Rahul Gandhi and the Opposition to say that India needs responsible leadership, social harmony and nation-building, not confrontation and chaos.
Referring to the situation in Bangladesh and Pakistan, Kumar said that violence, extremism, political confrontation and social divisions could damage the peace and stability of any country.
India must remain vigilant against ideologies that threaten its unity and integrity, he asserted.
Participants at the RSS conference emphasised that India’s true strength lies in its diversity, unity and respect for all religions.
The MRM will organise 10 awareness programmes in different parts of Uttar Pradesh in the coming days, discussing nationalism, social harmony, national unity, education, mutual brotherhood and social responsibility.
Two of these programmes will focus specifically on Sufism, with the tradition’s message of love, humanity, and peace, the statement said.
Kumar exhorted the RSS workers to be recognised by good conduct, gentle speech, honest intentions and strong character.
Rather than spreading a spirit of revenge in society, it is important to bring people together and win their hearts, he said.
Kumar also spoke on women’s dignity and the need to prevent families from breaking apart.
“If you must divorce something, divorce the bottle of intoxicants; if you want to love someone, love your wife at home … Not divorce, but reconciliation; not divorce, but love,” he said.
The RSS leader said people must overcome the evils within themselves, such as anger, ego, violence and extremism, and likened the practice to the Haj ritual of throwing pebbles at the devil.
Kumar appealed for dialogue and peace instead of war and stressed the need for dialogue between the United States, Iran and Israel.
