Mumbai, Oct 18 Activist Anjali Damania on Sunday claimed that Mumbai Police stopped her and another person at Khar subway and prevented them from proceeding to Carter Road to participate in a Tiranga yatra against alleged irregularities in SIR.
While Damania claimed detention, there is no confirmation from the police.
In a post on X, Damania said she and another person, Kunal, were travelling in a car when police personnel in plain clothes stopped their vehicle at Khar subway and got into it. She alleged that the personnel took away their mobile phones, which were returned after a heated argument.
Damania accused the police of harassing ordinary citizens while failing to trace people wanted in other major criminal cases, such as an accused in the murder of sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh.
“Krishna Andhale (an accused in the murder case) is still missing, but state police are harassing us,” she alleged.
