New Delhi, Oct 23 Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will inaugurate the 53-km Satna–Devendranagar and 65-km Rewa–Churhat rail sections, covering a total of 118 km of railway lines.
They will also flag off the new Devendranagar–Churhat train service.
“A significant milestone in the expansion of rail connectivity in the Vindhya region of Madhya Pradesh is set to be achieved on October 24, 2026,” a press note issued by the Railway Ministry said.
“The development is expected to accelerate passenger transportation and freight movement while creating new opportunities for industrial activity, trade and employment,” it added.
According to the ministry, the Lalitpur–Singrauli new railway line project holds particular significance for the Vindhya region, as it will expand the railway network and strengthen connectivity to areas such as Panna, Satna, Rewa and Singrauli.
“Upon completion, it will help connect mineral-rich regions with major industrial and transportation hubs across the country,” the ministry said.
Outlining the benefits of the Satna–Devendranagar rail section, the ministry stated that the section, developed under the Lalitpur–Singrauli new railway line project, will strengthen rail connectivity to Satna, Nagod and Devendranagar, as well as surrounding areas.
“The expansion of rail connectivity will make transportation easier and encourage the development of limestone-based industries and cement plants. It will also create opportunities for local trade, industrial activities, education and employment,” the ministry said.
Speaking about the Rewa–Churhat rail section, the ministry said the 65-km-long stretch would further improve rail connectivity between Rewa and the Sidhi region.
“Several major engineering works, including railway bridges and tunnels, have been undertaken across the hilly terrain along this route. These include a 3.33-km-long tunnel,” it stated.
“With the development of this rail section, Sidhi district has been connected to the railway network for the first time. Given the availability of limestone and other minerals in the region, the route is also expected to prove useful in the future for transporting cement, clinker and other freight,” the ministry added.
Officials said the introduction of the Devendranagar–Churhat train service would provide an additional travel option for local passengers, students, employees and traders.
The service would improve connectivity between surrounding areas and promote activities related to education, trade and employment, they added.
The development of the Satna–Devendranagar and Rewa–Churhat rail sections is expected to give fresh impetus to tourism across the Vindhya region, which is home to several major tourist destinations, including the White Tiger Safari at Mukundpur.
