Bilaspur (HP), Oct 21 Vishva Hindu Parishad’s Joint Provincial Secretary in Himachal Pradesh, Pankaj Bhartiya, on Wednesday called for eliminating caste-based discrimination and social hierarchies, and fostering values and open communication within families.

Speaking after performing a shastra pujan (worship of arms) and taking out a path sanchalan (march past) to mark the final phase of the centenary celebrations of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Kandraur area of Bilaspur district, Bhartiya emphasised the need to protect the environment, promote indigenous products and lifestyles, and diligently uphold one’s responsibilities towards the nation and society.

Maintaining that the purpose of shastra (arms or strength) is to organise the forces of the righteous to confront malevolent powers and ensure that no evil force can raise its head, the VHP leader said, “Strength is the guardian of peace, while weakness is its greatest obstacle.”

Bhartiya suggested that “zen-ji” — his term for India’s youth — recite Hanuman Chalisa and contribute to the nation’s development, so that the world is astonished that Indian youths are unique compared to those in other nations.

“Despite attempts made to incite and provoke the youth, they remain clear-headed, understanding that one does not burn down one’s own home just for the sake of a spectacle,” he said.

To mark its foundation day, which coincided with Vijayadashami, the RSS took out route marches in various parts of Bilaspur district on Tuesday and Wednesday.

During the event, swayamsevaks (volunteers) in full uniform conducted a march past, conveying a message of discipline, organisation, and unity in society.
