Ranchi, Oct 20 Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday extended greetings to people on the occasion of Vijayadashami and called for strengthening peace and harmony in society.

Soren also appealed to the people to stand against injustice, discrimination, and all forms of evil.

“Heartfelt greetings to all on the sacred occasion of Vijayadashami. This festival inspires us to walk the path of truth, justice, and righteousness. May this sacred occasion bring happiness and prosperity to everyone’s life, and further strengthen peace, harmony, and positivity in society — this is the auspicious wish,” Gangwar said in a social media post.

Vijayadashami, more commonly known as Dussehra, is a festival celebrated every year at the end of Durga Puja and Navaratri. The festival symbolises the triumph of good over evil.

It is celebrated across the country with revellers coming out in large numbers to witness the burning of Ravana effigies, marking the culmination of festivities filled with rituals, songs, dance and processions.

“Vijayadashami is a symbol of the victory of truth over untruth, righteousness over unrighteousness, and justice over injustice. This festival reminds us that no matter how powerful evil may seem, ultimately, truth prevails,” the CM said in a social media post.

He appealed to people to stand against all forms of evil and to strengthen brotherhood in society.

“Let us all resolve to stand against injustice, discrimination, and all forms of evil, and to strengthen love, harmony, and brotherhood. Heartfelt wishes for Vijayadashami to you all. Shubho Vijaya!” he added.
