Hazaribag, Oct 19 A woman and her lover have been arrested, while a minor has been detained, for allegedly murdering her husband in Jharkhand’s Hazaribag district, police said on Monday.
Manglesh Pal (30), who worked as a data entry operator at a Central Coalfields Ltd (CCL) project site, was allegedly hacked to death at his residence near the Main Gate of Giddi-A colony on Saturday, police said.
The murder was allegedly plotted by Pal’s wife Sonali Kumari (23) and her lover Kaushik Kumar Nauniya (23), a resident of West Bengal’s Paschim Bardhaman district, a senior police officer said.
“Based on human and technical evidence, we arrested both accused on Monday and detained a boy. Both have confessed to the murder,” Barkagaon Sub-Divisional Police Officer Amit Kumar Anand said.
“During interrogation, Kumari said she was in an extramarital relationship with Kaushik and wanted to secure her husband’s job first and then marry her lover. The two allegedly conspired to kill Pal,” he said.
Kaushik, along with another associate, allegedly entered the house and held Kumari hostage before attacking Pal with a sharp-edged weapon to make the incident appear to be a case of robbery, the SDPO said.
Acting on information provided by the accused, police seized two sharp-edged weapons allegedly used in the murder, including a knife, two mobile phones and blood-stained clothes belonging to the accused, he added.
