Mumbai, Oct 19 A fire broke out in the kitchen of a hotel at the 50-storey Kohinoor Square building in Mumbai’s Dadar area on Monday morning, officials said.
No casualties were reported in the blaze, which erupted around 9.18 am in the building located opposite Shiv Sena Bhavan, a civic official said.
The fire brigade dispatched four fire engines and other firefighting vehicles to the scene.
A civic official said the blaze was confined to the kitchen of a hotel on the first floor of the high-rise, which caused smoke to clog that section of the building.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control after over an hour of effort around 10.55 am, following which cooling operations were initiated, the official said.
Personnel from the local police, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking, the PWD and health departments, and civic ward staff were also mobilised.
The cause of the fire and the extent of damage are yet to be ascertained, officials added.
