Jaipur, Oct 19 Three workers sustained serious burn injuries after a major fire broke out at a factory in the industrial area of Pali city in Rajasthan, police said on Monday.

The fire broke out at a guar gum factory in phase 4 of the industrial area late Sunday night.

Police said 17 workers were on duty when the fire started due to a short circuit in a lift and 12 of them managed to escape. Three workers — Vicky (19), Avdhesh Kumar (40) and Raju (28) — suffered around 70 per cent burns. Two other workers were trapped, but were safely rescued.

The injured were initially taken to the Bangar Hospital and later referred to Jodhpur for further treatment, police said.

Eight fire brigade vehicles made multiple trips to the factory to control the blaze. The fire was brought under control after over four hours, they said.
