Srinagar, Oct 16 PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Friday sought the intervention of the Jammu and Kashmir Police chief regarding the detention of former militants from Pulwama district, who, she said, had shunned violence decades ago.

In a post on X, the former chief minister said former militants in their 60s from Ratnopora village were being detained at the Kaka Pora Special Operations Group (SOG) camp.

“Extremely distressing that former militants well into their sixties from Ratnopora, Pulwama are being hunted down & detained at the Kaka Pora SOG camp. These men who have shunned the path of violence decades ago are now grandfathers,” Mehbooba said.

Questioning the purpose, Mufti said the “arbitrary detentions cause immense trauma to families trying to move on”

“Request DGP J&K to intervene immediately by ensuring their release,” she added.
