Gurugram, Oct 16 A motorcycle with 25 pending traffic challans amounting to Rs 1.11 lakh was impounded by Gurugram traffic police during a vehicle-checking drive on Friday, police said.

According to police, the traffic police have been taking action against traffic violations and vehicles with pending challans.

On Friday, Zonal Officer (South City-2) ASI Rakesh and his team were checking vehicles when they stopped a motorcycle for verification. The rider was unable to produce the required vehicle documents, police said.

A check revealed 25 pending challans against the motorcycle under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, carrying fines totalling Rs 1,11,500, a senior traffic police officer said.

The challans included violations related to driving without valid insurance, a Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate and a High-Security Registration Plate (HSRP), besides other traffic offences.

Based on the pending challans and findings during the inspection, the motorcycle was impounded in accordance with the law, the officer said.

The traffic police have urged vehicle owners to keep their insurance, PUC certificates and other required documents valid and readily available, pay pending challans on time and follow traffic rules to ensure road safety, he added.
