Thane, Oct 16 A case has been registered in Maharashtra’s Thane district over the alleged impersonation of the Uhasnagar Municipal Corporation deputy mayor on Instagram and circulation of defamatory posts, police said on Friday.
The incident allegedly took place on October 4, when someone created a fake Instagram profile using the handle AMARLUND_2 to impersonate Lund.
The profile allegedly circulated defamatory posts by misusing the complainant’s name and public identity, an official said.
“We have registered a case under Section 66 (C) of the Information Technology Act on the complaint of Amar Govindram Lund, who serves as the deputy mayor of Ulhasnagar. A probe is underway,” said a police official.
