Dehradun, Oct 14 The Nainital administration on Wednesday said that 98 “unruly elements” have been banished from the district between January 1 and October 8.
Officials said the district administration is maintaining a strict stance to ensure effective action against unruly elements and to strengthen law and order alongside ongoing development works.
Action is being taken under the Goonda Act in the district following the direction of District Magistrate Lalit Mohan Rayal, they said.
On Wednesday, the court of Additional District Magistrate Vivek Rai ordered the externment of Shahnawaz Ansari alias Aatu and Abhimanyu Sagar alias Sunny Sagar – both residents of Banbhoolpura – for six months and three months, respectively; Rizwan Iliyas for two months; and Vishnu Aarav – a resident of Bindukhatta – for two months.
During the externment period, the accused must remain outside the district boundaries, and any violation of the orders will result in action in accordance with the law, the officials said.
“The district administration is working with full vigilance to uphold the rule of law, and taking periodic action against unruly elements is essential for this purpose. Anyone who compromises law and order in the district will not be spared under any circumstances,” Rai said.
