New Delhi, Oct 13 Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday said that the “anti-women” face of Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi was exposed after the “assault and indecency” faced by a pregnant female journalist at the party’s protest.
She also slammed Gandhi’s sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, for her “silence” over the “sexual harassment” charge faced by a Congress MP.
In a post on X, Gupta claimed that a “three-month pregnant woman journalist Richa Parashar” was assaulted while covering the Congress protest on Monday in the national capital.
“The violence against a pregnant woman journalist simply doing her duty deserves as much condemnation as possible – it’s never enough,” Gupta said.
“Richa’s ordeal exposes the gap between what Congress preaches and what it does,” the chief minister said in the post.
She also criticised the party over sexual harassment charges against its Inner Manipur MP Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, who was recently dismissed as a JNU professor in the wake of the allegations.
“Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi have kept mum over the Congress MP accused of sexual harassment of 11 JNU daughters. The real character of political parties issuing ‘Ladki Hun Lad Sakti Hun’ type poll slogans is before the people,” Gupta said.
She said that on Monday, when BJP Mahila Morcha activists protested outside Congress headquarters, they met with “indecent behaviour and vulgar abuses.”
A BJP delegation, earlier in the day, filed a police complaint, seeking action against Congress workers over the incident.
“The country is watching Rahul Gandhi and Congress’s so-called respect for women. The public will respond and hold them accountable,” Gupta asserted.
