New Delhi, Oct 13 The Congress on Tuesday launched a scathing attack at Amit Shah after the home minister predicted another setback for the opposition party in 2029 polls, alleging that the “co-architect of vote chori” has already begun the rigging process.
Shah on Tuesday asked Rahul Gandhi and the opposition to be ready again for a “crushing defeat” in 2029 as people are with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and claimed that the country can see through the Leader of Opposition’s “plan” to get infiltrators registered as voters.
Hitting back, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said in a post on X, “The Union Home Minister is back with his 3 Bs—Bombast, Bluff and Bluster. The co-architect of Vote Chori has, not surprisingly, ‘predicted’ the 2029 Lok Sabha election for which undoubtedly he has already begun the rigging process. But it is not going to happen.”
“The people know that the Constitutional right to vote is their biggest power to hold authoritarian governments built on lies – like this one – accountable and send them packing. This is why India, especially the youth, is now out on the streets,” the Congress leader said.
The “diabolical duo” is clearly rattled seeing the surge of sentiment against them across all sections of society in the nation, he said.
“The HM should start preparing to defend himself from the investigations that will start into his many nefarious deeds when the regime presided over by his Sahib falls,” Ramesh said.
AICC general secretary, organisation, K C Venugopal said on X, “Heights of irony that ‘vote chor’ Amit Shah is celebrating an election victory – when the whole problem is how they are destroying our electoral system.”
“Amit Shah is already speaking about 2029, clearly he also knows that Modi’s position is unstable. Look at the body language, the fear is palpable. He is so nervous he only spoke to Godi media and took no questions. His face was totally shaken.
“Mr. Shah, you should certainly be worried about surviving in office till 2029,” Venugopal said in his post.
Congress leader Pawan Khera said what the home minister stated proved all our allegations in one line – “that they are going to win all in 2029 as well”.
“This is the confidence they have in the SIR, the Election Commission and Gyanesh Kumar. We thank him for proving our allegations himself. The BJP had never won in the last term. It secured a majority for the first time in this decade since Independence. What does this prove?” he asked.
Earlier, attacking Gandhi, Shah also said that the kind of “negative politics” the Congress has been engaged in will not benefit it as it needs to connect with the public and cited the opposition party’s dismal performance in the recent bypolls and local body elections in several states.
“Ever since you became the principal leader of the Congress, and later its president, and now the Leader of the Opposition, the Congress party has continuously lost elections,” he said.
“You need to engage in introspection. You cannot win the trust of the country’s people through fabricated media events and echoes of lies,” he said, adding that the Congress is on a losing spree for decades now.
“I want to ask Shri Rahul Gandhi ji directly: Is this the result of the SIR? The SIR started only after 2024,” Shah said.
Criticising Gandhi, the home minister said people of India know his “plans of getting infiltrators registered as voters”.
“I want to tell Shri Rahul ji and his associates to prepare themselves once again for a crushing defeat in 2029. In the 2029 general elections, the NDA is going to win with a resounding majority, and the Congress is going to face defeat for the fourth consecutive time.
“The people of this country are with Narendra Modi ji, with the BJP, with the NDA. You cannot deny this truth,” he told reporters here. PTI SKC 1.0.
