Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 13 The BJP MLAs in Keralam Assembly on Tuesday sought a correction to the House record, claiming that the party members had opposed a resolution passed on October 12 regarding electoral roll revision.
In a letter to the Speaker, BJP parliamentary party leader and MLA B B Gopakumar said the resolution tabled by Chief Minister V D Satheesan was incorrectly recorded as passed unanimously, despite objections raised by the party’s three legislators.
Gopakumar requested Speaker Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan to amend the record to reflect the BJP’s opposition and issue a revised copy of the resolution.
The Keralam Assembly on Monday passed a resolution seeking the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Moved by CM Satheesan, the resolution had called for addressing alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and immediately restoring the voting rights of all eligible voters who had been wrongfully excluded.
It had further sought the reconstitution of the committee responsible for selecting Election Commissioners, proposing that it comprise the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and the Chief Justice of India to ensure the independence and credibility of the institution.
