New Delhi, Oct 18 Amid protests in Delhi demanding electoral transparency and accountability over the SIR exercise, the Youth Congress on Sunday launched a digital campaign inviting citizens to vote for the “10 heads of India’s Ravan”.

The campaign, titled ‘Digital Ravan Dahan’, invites people to identify the figures they associate with the country’s political climate through its website, chalojantarmantar.com. It will culminate in a virtual Ravan Dahan on Tuesday at 7.30 pm, the Congress’s youth wing said in a statement.

Indian Youth Congress (IYC) national president Uday Bhanu Chib said the initiative seeks to give citizens a platform to voice their concerns over electoral transparency and the accountability of constitutional institutions.

“When questions about Vote Chori, electoral transparency and the accountability of constitutional institutions continue to dominate the democratic discourse, citizens must have the opportunity to express their concerns,” Chib said.

He said democracy is not merely about casting a vote on election day but also about holding those in power accountable.

The campaign draws on the symbolism of Dussehra, with the virtual event being presented as a Jantar Mantar gathering featuring the symbolic burning of Ravana’s effigy, the statement read.

The IYC has invited students, young professionals and citizens to participate through the campaign website.
