She also urged parents to provide their children with good values and education to make them patriotic and religious.

Nanda called upon young women to join organisations such as Durga Vahini and the Rashtriya Sevika Samiti.

Chetna Sharma, head of the Hamirpur-based Pehchan organisation, thanked the Durga Vahini Aayam workers for successfully organising the programme.

Sharma said society needed organisations that could fight various social evils and added that Durga Vahini was working to inculcate values in society.

Describing the family as the first school of values, she said society would become cultured if families nurtured the right values. She added that empowering daughters within families could help strengthen society.
