Shimla, Oct 18 Himachal Pradesh government has amended the Resident Doctors Policy-2025 to facilitate the appointment of eligible postgraduate (PG) doctors who have completed their postgraduate qualifications from PGI, Chandigarh, and AIIMS, New Delhi.

The appointments will be made against vacancies for Senior Residents/Tutor Specialists in the state’s medical colleges, a statement issued here on Sunday said.

Eligible PG doctors from the two premier medical institutions can now be appointed to those roles without any written test or interview, based on the merit obtained in MBBS and postgraduate examinations.

The appointments will be made under the 33.33 per cent quota reserved for direct candidates, the Department of Medical Education notification read.

The amendment reflects the government’s initiative to facilitate the recruitment of qualified medical professionals in the state’s health institutions. It would strengthen the availability of specialist medical services in the state, a health department spokesperson said.
