Lucknow, Oct 18 Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed all police commissioners, district magistrates and police chiefs to inspect safety arrangements at Durga Puja pandals across the state, officials said on Sunday.
The directions were issued after a stampede at a Durga Puja pandal in north Kolkata on Saturday evening claimed 19 lives and left 25 people injured.
Adityanath asked officials to check fire safety arrangements, entry and exit points, emergency exits and power installations at the pandals, according to directions issued by the chief minister’s office.
He directed district magistrates and police chiefs to ensure that adequate arrangements were in place for emergency exits to facilitate the safe movement of devotees.
The chief minister also instructed all officials to remain in the field and ensure compliance with the safety measures.
